GENERAL INFORMATION

Duration of Courses

Since home studies by distance learning are not tied to a lecture programme, students may work at whatever pace is suitable for them, setting their own targets. Average duration is given for all courses, but some students complete their studies in less than one half of the time stated. Your personal tutor will assist you in achieving whatever goals you set.

Commencement of Courses

All courses may be commenced or completed at any time throughout the year. On enrolment. each student is registered for their particular course and given a student's ID number and the name and address of their personal tutor. Studies can begin immediately on receipt of the course materials.

Eligibility

There are no prerequisites, except a good general education for most courses including all Introductory Courses, Basic Courses and the General Diploma in Homeopathy. Veterinary, Dental and Pharmacy Diploma courses are open to qualified veterinary surgeons, dental surgeons, dental nurses or pharmacists only.

Course Fees

All course fees quoted are wholly inclusive of VAT, examinations fees, etc. (there are NO extra charges) and apply to United Kingdom and other EU countries only. Payment by standing order is available on request, see financial assistance page. Career Development Loans are available for British Institute courses from the Department for Education and Skills. Details available on request, see Accreditations, Affiliations and Financial Assistance pages. ELCS support is given by the Ministry of Defence to serving members of the Armed Forces, see Accreditations, Affiliations and Financial Assistance pages.

Personal Tutors

On registration, each student is provided with an expert, highly qualified personal tutor who will give friendly support and guidance on a one-to-one basis throughout their studies. Students may opt for e-mail communication with their tutor if they so wish. Most courses are now available on CD ROM if desired.

Student Location

Currently, the British Institute has students studying in 77 different countries. Students may continue their studies regardless of changes of address within a country or between countries simply by notifying the central or regional office and their personal tutor.
